The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself is a British fantasy-drama series based on the YA novel, Half Bad, by Sally Green. The series is a Netflix Original and premiered on October 28, 2022, with the first season releasing internationally.
The series tells the story of Nathan Byrn, an illegitimate son of a dangerous witch, Marcus Edge, struggling to overcome his odds of following the footsteps of his father as he discovers his true identity alongside his friends.
After being discovered as an illegitimate son of the "World's Most Dangerous Blood Witch", Marcus Edge, 16-year-old Nathan Byrn was monitored by The Council of Fairborn Witches for several years. However, as the conflict between Blood Witch and Fairborn Witch escalates, Nathan found an opportunity to escape. As he escaped, he'd soon built alliances with Annalise and Gabriel while discovering previously unknown secrets of himself.

Prior to the order of a script at Netflix, a feature-film had been under development at Fox 2000 since April 2013; it was announced that Karen Rosenfelt would be in charge of the production of the film, but the script was eventually unrealised and Fox 2000 published no further information on the possible release of the film. The studio later went into liquidation under 20th Century Studios.
Netflix announced on December 13, 2020 that the production of a television series adaptation of Sally Green's Half Bad series was under development; this time, the adaptation would be produced by Joe Barton. It was later revealed on August 25, 2022 that the adaptation would be named The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself.
